I’ve got a problem with DRM, Digital Restrictions Management. My problem is twofold. I dislike DRM and I’ve got an everyday, practical problem.

Microsoft asked my PC, hey, I’m going to install IE7, ok? I said, sure. Then I built this blog, on my Mac. I checked it in Firefox. I checked it in Safari. I checked it in IE 7. It’s got it’s share of bugs, but, heck, this is just my little personal blog. I’ll debug when I get around to it. Then today I saw it in IE 6. What a disaster.

Yesterday was the SuperBowl. If you were attending in person you might have checked the website for the stadium before you went to the game. If so, you may not only have got soaked at the rainy game, but you might have unknowingly installed a Trojan virus and a keylogger on your computer. As reported in the eWeek story Super Bowl Site Hacked with Trojan, Keylogger, there was a malicious piece of JavaScript inserted in the website’s code.

I found these funky ice cube trays at the MOMA store in Soho in NYC. The “cubes” are about 2 inches in circumference. (Am I using that term correctly? From the North Pole to the South Pole of the round ice “cube” is 2 inches. Well, you get what I mean.) They are $7 each and only make 2 ice cubes globes. I bought 3 of them, spending a crazy $21 so my ice is not only cool, but hip.

I’ve been a fan of Sid Meier’s Civilization games for many years. I’ve played Civ 1, 2, and 3. All have been some of wonderful time sinks. After putting it off for a long time, I finally broke down and bought Civilization 4 when I saw that it was optimized to run on my Intel Mac. My aging copy of Civ 3 was PowerPC only and it was time for the upgrade.
